PROJECT MANAGER ADVISOR id: 1-2010-pma

As a member of Productivity Support Team (PST), the Project Manager Advisor is responsible for successful management of client Health & Welfare benefit implementations & renewals, ongoing administration of complex client projects and completion of special projects while building and maintaining client relationships. The Project Manager develops project plans, coordinates team resources to meet project milestones and reports status to the PST Director. The role is also responsible for conducting role specific and special topic training for team members in various departments across the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Simultaneously manage multiple internal and external client projects of various complexity including implementations, product development initiatives, "at risk" cases and process improvement strategies;
  • Utilize project management methodology on assigned projects:
    • Develop and maintain project plans, project tasks, issues logs, and other applicable project tools;
    • Perform issue resolution, risk management, and cost analysis;
    • Complete root/cause analysis and recommend strategic approaches for short and long term resolution;
    • Ensure that projects stay within timeline and within budget;
    • Manage project scope;
    • Work with Project Manager on project transition once the new implementation is complete or when "at risk" projects stabilize.
  • Provide project and client advice, guidance, mentoring and support to Project Managers
  • Assist Project Managers in rolling out new updates to their client and project teams (upgrades, functionalities, checklists, discussion guides, etc.);
  • Work with various departments to create/improve standards, processes, procedures and best practices across the organization;
  • Develop and deliver training to the company’s various departments (standards and best practices, role specific training, Open Enrollment, new legislation, system releases and functionalities etc.);
  • Complete RFPs requested from prospective and current clients.
  • Partner with other departments to create/review functional and technical requirements, test plans, training materials and procedure documents for client projects.
  • Quality review team assignments including client deliverables and documentation.
  • Work with Development department to prioritize projects, define project requirements, perform user acceptance testing and deliver internal and external communications/training;
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with clients, vendors, carriers, internal departments, outside consultants and business partners to ensure successful implementations, renewals and ongoing administration.
  • Manage and participate in special projects as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 3+ years direct experience in Benefits/Health & Welfare industry.
  • 8+ years demonstrated successful project management experience managing complex and/or technical projects, preferably in Benefits or Health & Welfare industry.
  • Client facing experience is strongly preferred;
  • Experience in design and delivery of training activities/initiatives.
  • Experience in process improvement/best practices a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Strong knowledge of the Benefits/Health & Welfare industries;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills and detail-oriented;
  • Previous presentation and complex matrixed meeting experience highly preferred;
  • Must be proactive and results-driven;
  • Disciplined in summarizing and reporting status/results;
  • Ability to effectively communicate, written or verbal.
  • Must possess excellent judgment, intuition, tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive issues and situations;
  • Ability to develop creative ideas and think "outside the box"
  • Ability to accurately assess individual situations and draw on prior knowledge, experience and problem solving skills to develop successful solutions.
  • Ability to gather business requirements, read/understand specifications and follow documentation techniques;
  • Must be able to simultaneously and successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects of various complexity and meet tight deadlines.
  • Aptitude for learning internal systems, applications and internal work flow of the department;
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member;
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook),
  • Solid knowledge of MS Project);
  • Knowledge of COBRA, FSA and Call Center experience/exposure is desired;
  • PMI Certification or Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is preferred.

WORK LOCATION AND HOURS:

    • Work is typically performed either on site at Trion either at our King of Prussia location, or at various customer and Trion locations as required;
    • Must be able to work extended hours during peak periods (especially September through February).
