software quality analyst

As a member of the Development Team, the primary role of the Software Quality Analyst is to ensure that software development deliverables are within total quality management limits and standards by creating test plans, selecting/generating test data, executing test cases, and tracking issues through to resolution while assisting the entire organization to design and implement QA standards and best practices.  This position requires a fundamental understanding of the systemic support of Health & Welfare benefits administration as well as the importance of the QA process to meeting organizational expectations along the lines of cost/pricing, functionality, and timeliness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop, maintain, execute, and validate test plans to assure that the functionality represented in requirements is delivered
  • Document and analyze test results and recommend corrective action when applicable
  • Select/generate test data, calculate and compare expected and actual test case results using SQL, and/or Excel
  • Log defects in a detailed, understandable and reproducible way, tracking all defects through to closure
  • Manage risk by routinely identifying, assessing, and developing mitigation plans for events that could impact the success of the assigned tasks
  • Perform Functional, Integration and Regression testing of proprietary systems
  • Select/create data for performance and stress testing
  • Serve as sole testing resource on small to mid-size projects
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of project deadlines and schedules
  • Provide regular status reports to project managers, lead analysts, and Analyst Manager
  • Provide input to standard Quality Assurance templates, processes, standards, and guidelines
  • Keep up to date with quality as well as industry-related developments

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree or related experience in HR, Business, Information Systems/Computer Science, Math, Accounting or Finance.
  • 3+ years experience in a software quality or testing role.
  • Experience within Health & Welfare Benefits Administration preferred.
  • Experience in defining test strategies, planning and performing all testing activities including functional, integration, user acceptance and regression testing.
  • Experienced in writing detailed, systematic test plans for in-house and external testing.
  • Ability to prioritize, solve complex tasks, and recognize and escalate risks without supervision.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server 2000 (2005 is a plus), SQL, MS Office Suite
  • Experience in data manipulation
  • Must be able to multi-task and function effectively in a fast paced, demanding atmosphere
  • Experience with automated testing tools a plus
  • Certifications are a plus
