Client Service Specialist

The primary role of the Client Service Specialist is to exercise discretion and independent judgment to evaluate client health and welfare benefit plans and design changes, develop and implement solutions to client issues, and participate in a cross functional team to support Principals, Account Managers, and Underwriters in servicing clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyze plan designs and procedural or system changes for benefit plans; making appropriate client recommendations
  • Conduct plan audits, including review of insurance contracts, amendments and other documents, to ensure compliance and appropriate documentation
  • Interpret plan documents to answer client questions
  • Make decisions concerning open enrollment timing, procedures and documentation
  • Develop and implement solutions to client issues such as claims, billing, enrollment materials
  • Coordinate open enrollment meetings, along with applicable paperwork such as vendor contracts, applications, election forms and benefit summaries
  • Develop newsletters, benefit summaries and highlight brochures
  • Conduct monthly benefit orientation meetings
  • Review and revise benefit materials, communicating benefit updates and changes to clients and their employees
  • Assist in developing and providing training on benefits programs and procedures
  • Coordinate and track all activities required to properly implement and service new business

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma required, 4-year college degree preferred, but not required
  • Client Service experience in Benefits Brokerage/Insurance industry
  • Effective analytical, math and problem solving skills, sound judgment, strong decision making ability, confidence to make difficult decisions and excellent communication skills
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and able to translate big picture ideas into client objectives
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Must have ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
  • Must have computer skills proficiency and experience with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work is typically performed in a normal office environment, either on site at Trion, or at various customer locations. Some travel is required.
