Merger increases Trion’s service capabilities in Southeast region
King of Prussia, Pa. - January 29, 2008 - Employee benefits consulting and administration leader Trion has acquired Benefits Group Inc., a privately held insurance consulting company based in Greensboro, North Carolina which was founded by 30-year industry veteran, Mary Bernard Magrinat.
The merger, which was finalized on November 30, 2007, is planned to expand Trion’s Health & Welfare consulting practice, particularly in the southeastern U.S.
“Trion and Benefits Group share many similarities - including our roots, mission, business approach, growth strategies, services, and people - that make this a win-win situation for all involved," said Ed Garno III, a principal at Trion. "Our synergies create a greater level of differentiation in the marketplace and enable us to reach, and serve, a wider range of customers."
Benefits Group president Mary Bernard Magrinat will join Trion in her same capacity as the head of the Greensboro office, which Trion will utilize as a full-service location, adding to its eight existing offices nationwide. Executive vice president Richard Jones will also remain with the company in an operational capacity and play a role in business development.
According to Magrinat, “Merging with Trion allows Benefits Group to grow without compromising the things that have made our business such a success - our values, culture, people, philosophy, and the passion for what we do.”
